What is IDLE HOUR?
Idle Hour Tennis Club, Inc. is Delaware County's oldest member-owned and operated tennis club.   Our goal is to promote the game of tennis within the community in a peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere with exciting activities and tennis events for people of all ages.
What if I don't have anyone to play with?
At Idle Hour, someone is almost always available to hit with.  We have over 500 members from beginners to NCAA Division I college players, many of whom are at the club daily. Getting a match can't be any easier.
How about getting court time?
At Idle Hour, play right away; there are no reservations necessary.  Just stop in, find a partner (or bring your own), sign up for an open court and walk right out.  It is that simple!  Pick-up matches set us apart from other clubs where matches have to be pre-arranged.  That is the Idle Hour difference.
What if I like to play on Har-Tru?
We have 14 Har-Tru courts plus 4 hard courts for year-round play.  Our club has a full-time manager and the clay courts are groomed daily by our dedicated ground crew to provide the best experience possible.  We also provide men's and women's locker and shower facilities, plus a full-service Pro Shop.
What about tennis programs?
There are many to choose from.  Idle Hour hosts USTA adult leagues, interclub teams and USTA-sponsored tournaments for juniors, open draws and seniors in the summer.  Our Pro provides tennis instruction and clinics for children and adults for a nominal fee and organizes round robin play and special tennis and social events.
Sounds great, but is it expensive?
This is the amazing part. For over 75 years, we've been dedicated to tennis, therefore we can offer the best value anywhere on a junior or individual membership. We don't have a pool, fitness center or the high overhead associated with these facilities, so we pass the savings back to our membership.  Furthermore, as a member-owned, non-profit facility, the price of membership stays low, year after year. For information regarding application, initiation and annual membership fees, click on one of the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION links below in either MS Word or Adobe Acrobat format or click on our pricing Idle Hour...An Outstanding Value.
Where can I get more information?
New members are always welcome!
